“When I fell asleep it was summer
But when I awoke it was winter
The house was empty and cold
You were there no more”
Coinciding with the arrival of their new album, “Netherworlds”, Finland's masters of melancholy unveil the epic “The Hour Grows Late (feat. Tomi Joutsen, Tomi Koivusaari & Santeri Kallio)”. Markus Vanhala (guitar) comments: “‘The Hour Grows Late’ falls on the more epic side of the Insomnium spectrum, perhaps alongside classics like ‘Pale Morning Star’ and ‘Godforsaken.’ It’s a longer adventure in music, venturing a little further into the progressive dark side of the album’s moon. We’re paying respect to the people who have fallen before us while we’re left alone in the dark and cold, with only two companions by our side: misery and sorrow. The new album deals with themes of loss, growing old, and missing all the people and creatures who have left us behind and headed to the Netherworld. The rest of us will follow with certainty, but not yet.”
He adds about the guests on the song: “I had been thinking about asking my good buddy, and band bro from Cemetery Skyline, Maverick or Goose, depending on the day, Mr. Santeri Kallio, to play an acid-trippy synth solo in the chaotic middle section of the song. At the same time, our producer, Miiro Varjus, came up with the idea of asking both Tomis to guest on vocals on this very same song. The fact that these two ideas came together felt like such perfect synchronicity that we simply couldn’t not make it happen. The boys did well, and I’m especially happy to hear good old cookie monster, old-school Tomi Koivusaari growling.””

If you're wondering about the white ribbons seen throughout the video: Karsikko is a sacred memorial tree tradition in Finnish and Karelian folklore. These trees served as symbolic boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead. During funeral processions, a mark was carved into a designated tree to commemorate the deceased, while ribbons and strips of clothing were hung on ancestral trees to honor their memory and help ensure their souls found peace.
Today, INSOMNIUM also embark on an extensive touring run, kicking off with a string of Finnish shows. In November and December, they will head to the USA and Canada with Amorphis, supported by Hinayana. After a short break over the holiday season, the band will return to the road alongside Amorphis for a European tour in January and February 2027, with support from Unto Others.

Hellripper – Release Arctic Monkeys cover version digitally;
North American tour coming up next!
Scotland's ibex-obsessed blackened thrash bastards of Hades otherwise known as Hellripper continue to globally promote their fourth studio album “Coronach” which was released via Century Media Records earlier this year.
Next up, Hellripper are embarking on a first complete North American tour in October/November and in order to whet the appetite for the upcoming activities, Hellripper have already released a digital double-single with the cover versions of Seattle’s legendary speed-metal-punks Zeke of the tracks “Let’s Get Drugs” and “Mainline”. Hellripper have now also unleashed a blackened metal reimagining of an Arctic Monkeys B-side track “If You Found This It's Probably Too Late”. Check all those songs out here: https://hellripper.bio.to/Digital-Singles
Or visit https://centurymedia.bandcamp.com/ where you find them compiled as the digital EP “Who the Fuck is Hellripper?”.
Hellripper’s mastermind, guitarist/vocalist and songwriter James McBain comments on the Arctic Monkeys cover song as follows: “I wanted to record something that would perhaps be a little unexpected, and this Arctic Monkeys B-side was screaming for the Hellripper treatment. It may be kind of surprising to some, but they’re one of my all time favourite bands, and though it may not be immediately evident in my music, they have always greatly influenced how I approach songwriting and production. Enjoy!”
On the live-front, Hellripper are starting their North American tour as supports for thrashers Havok alongside Slackjaw and Xoth, also adding a handful of Canadian headline dates by the end of the trip. Here is the list of the already announced upcoming live appearances for Hellripper, including a comprehensive South American tour and already a bunch of next festivals for 2027 too.
And many more shows to be announced soon!
