Ahead of the release of their highly anticipated new album Legacy, UK modern prog trio Ihlo have shared their new song ‘Mute’ today. ‘Mute’ is the third single to be released ahead of the album on 29th August and comes with a brand-new music video produced by Andy Robison.
Speaking on the new song, the band shared the following: "Mute was a song that had been a work-in-progress not long after Replica's completion. The main building blocks of the song were established quite quickly, however, knowing which direction it would take after the first couple of minutes was something that kept us wondering for a long time! Digging into influences from ambient electronic sounds like 'Boards Of Canada' and vaporwave cult legends '2814' was the secret spice we needed to not only elevate the track but also allowed us to dive deeper into a different side of our sound. At first glance, some might consider it to be the obligatory ballad of the album, yet we'd say it hides a much deeper character to Ihlo that shows up all across the album, and that we would love to explore more in future.”
Written collaboratively by band members Andy Robison, Phil Monro, and Clark McMenemy, Legacy is a fascinating and worthy successor to 2019’s Union - an acclaimed debut that topped Bandcamp’s Progressive Metal chart and won Ihlo praise across the prog world.
