KANONENFIEBER - neue Single/Video “Waffenbrüder”
Vor der Veröffentlichung ihres zweiten Albums „Die Urkatastrophe“ am Freitag, den 20. September, präsentieren KANONENFIEBER ihre letzte Single und ein Video zu "Waffenbrüder".

KANONENFIEBER über „Waffenbrüder“: „Wir schreiben das Jahr 1916. Zwei beste Freunde stehen in der Bekleidungskammer einer bayerischen Kaserne. Mit vor Stolz geschwellter Brust nehmen die beiden das Feldgrau entgegen. Es geht in den Krieg.
Wie lange haben sie sich nach einem Abenteuer gesehnt. Schon als kleine Buben haben sie ehrfürchtig den Geschichten ihrer Väter am Lagerfeuer gelauscht: der Kampf Mann gegen Mann in der ruhmreichen Schlacht. Mit Stöcken bewaffnet haben sie ihre Lieblingshelden nachgespielt und den ein oder anderen Sieg errungen. Schon von Kindertagen an waren sie Waffenbrüder.
Und nun, im Schatten der Front und des Granatenfeuers, verblassen die Kindheitsträume. Einzig das nackte Überleben und der treue Freundesbund halten beide am Leben. Zunächst. Tags am Posten, nachts im Unterstand – nichts kann die beiden trennen. Fast nichts, denn die Artillerie des Feindes vermag Eisen, Fleisch und auch Bünde jeglicher Art zu zerreißen. So kommt es, dass in der Frühjahresoffensive eine Granate in das durch die Freunde besetzte Fuchsloch einschlägt und einen der beiden mit sich in die Erde nimmt. Und dort bleibt er, der Waffenbruder. Vergraben in fremder Erde, der Heimat so fern, wie sie nur sein könnte.
Einen Lorbeerzweig verfasste der Hinterbliebene seinem besten Freund in tiefer Betrübnis über den Verlust. Und jene Worte der Trauer haben wir hör- und greifbar gemacht. Dies ist die wahre Geschichte der Waffenbrüder.“
Und eben jener Lorbeerzweig findet sich als gedruckte Kopie in den beiden Artbook Varianten des Albums. Zum Song selbst steuerte Maik Weichert von Heaven Shall Burn ein Gitarrensolo hinzu.
KANONENFIEBER über das Konzept von „Die Urkatastrophe“: „Der Erste Weltkrieg beschleunigte den Weg in die Moderne und gilt als die "Urkatastrophe" des 20. Jahrhunderts, das von Kriegen, Gewalt und Vertreibungen geprägt war. Etwa 17 Millionen Menschen, Soldaten und Zivilisten, verloren ihr Leben, große Teile Europas wurden zerstört und ungelöste Probleme hinterlassen, die zu weiteren gewaltsamen Konflikten führten. Dieses Album soll die Opfer des Ersten Weltkrieges dem Vergessen entreißen. Mögen ihre Schicksale auch nach über 100 Jahren Mahnung sein für die nachfolgenden Generationen,“ erklärt Noise, der im Studio alle Instrumente einspielt und für das Konzept von KANONENFIEBER verantwortlich ist.

As with its predecessor, KANONENFIEBER's second album “Die Urkatastrophe” is based on factual reports, letters and original documents from the surviving and deceased soldiers from the First World War. Its intent is not to glorify, because there is no glory in war. Everyone loses - their lives, their souls, their humanity. War is often depicted in an abstract way, through numbers and statistics. KANONENFIEBER aim to tell the stories of the nameless and the faceless in order to allow for a small glimpse of their personal horrors, and thereby the larger scale horror for mankind as a whole.
KANONENFIEBER's black and death metal isn't meant to solely entertain, but also educate and raise awareness against the glorification of war. “Die Urkatastrophe” was recorded with Kristian Kohle (Powerwolf, Aborted, Benighted and many more) at Kohlekeller Studio, and features guitarist Maik Weichert of Heaven Shall Burn on the song "Waffenbrüder".

At the two shows, KANONENFIEBER will not only be presenting a new show. The band explains: “A call resounds like a thunderclap! The ‘Urkatastrophe’ rolls across the stages of Weimar and Munich. Both performances are accompanied by a mobile museum featuring exhibits and documents from the First World War.
Guided by a historian, visitors to the events can browse postcards, military artifacts, and maps, while learning about the background of Kanonenfieber.”

About KANONENFIEBER
Germany's KANONENFIEBER released their first album, “Menschenmühle”, in 2021. Since then the band played several highly successful tours and their elaborate, dramatic live shows shook crowds and left them speechless at renowned festivals such as Hellfest (FR), Summer Breeze (D), Full Force (D), Rockharz (D), Party.San (D) or Dong Open Air (D)..
KANONENFIEBER is the brainchild of Noise, who writes and records all of their music. For live shows he is accompanied by friends who allow him to focus on taking care of the vocals and the bombastic stage performance.
Noise started KANONENFIEBER in 2020 after reading through his deceased great-grandfather’s diary that he wrote at the frontlines during the Second World War. Apart from memories, it was the only thing left of him. A hobby historian and friend of Noise transferred the diary from the original Sütterlin which was gifted as a book to Noise’s grandmother - his great-grandfather’s daughter. When Noise read through the bone chilling first-hand accounts, it became clear that he wanted to dedicate his art to commemorating the countless victims of war in general. The concept that was drafted together with his friend largely hinges on authenticity, with lyrics and linguistics based on reports, letters and other historical documents.
The band members including Noise and his live band are deliberately kept anonymous which works as a reference to the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier": monuments in various countries worldwide that commemorate soldiers killed in wars. The horrors of war are universal.
